System requirements

Minimum Requirements

If Webdesk and the database server are installed together on one system, the following minimum system resources are required:

  • current CPU (at least 4 cores)
  • 8 GB RAM
  • 40 GB free disk space

Software Requirements

  • Java 17 (e.g. Eclipse Temurin)
  • Servlet container Apache Tomcat 9

When running as a Docker image, Java and Tomcat are already part of the image.

Supported Operating Systems

  • Linux (64 bit) - the Webdesk Docker image is based on AlmaLinux 9; other current Linux distributions with Java 17 are possible as well
  • Windows Server 2016
  • Windows Server 2019
  • Windows Server 2022

Deployment Options

Webdesk EWP can be operated in the following ways:

  • Classic installation on a Linux or Windows server with Tomcat
  • Docker: run as a Docker image (Tomcat 9 with Java 17)
  • Kubernetes: run the Docker images in a Kubernetes cluster

Database Server

The following versions of Microsoft SQL Server are supported: 2016, 2017, 2019 and 2022. The "Express Edition" is sufficient.

Other possible database servers:

  • MySQL / MariaDB
  • Oracle

DB2 is no longer supported.
