Home office - a term that was hardly or only very rarely used before 2020 is now firmly established in everyday working life. Corona-related lockdowns made working from home a necessity and presented both employers and employees with numerous challenges. Although the strict Covid measures have now been largely discontinued and a return to the office is possible again, the home office working model remains in place. The pandemic has shown that it is feasible to work remotely efficiently and that there are even some advantages to doing so. Of course, there are a few things to consider to make remote working a complete success for everyone involved. This blog post is intended to highlight the associated opportunities as well as any difficulties and provide assistance for smooth home office operations.
For many companies, it is important to have an overview of how many and which days an employee is working from home per week. Therefore Personalwolke customers have the option of storing a home office plan.
Planning of home office days in the personnel cloud
Your employees will find the home office planning in the menu tree under Applications. The desired period (e.g. one week) can be selected. A small window opens in which you can select whether you want to plan home office on certain days in the selected period (e.g.: every Wednesday and Thursday).
The planning of home office days is not automatically activated in the personnel cloud; we are happy to activate this function on request.

Important!
- As this is a planning, the employee must still record their working times on the home office days using the "Home office" entry reason. The planning is then automatically replaced by the actual "home office" bookings.
- Changes at short notice are also possible, e.g. an employee registers as "present" in the office. This overwrites the home office planning with the booking reason "Present".
Examples on which days be counted as a home office
Working from home also offers tax advantages, as the employer can pay employees up to 3 euros a day tax-free.
This is to cover the costs incurred by working from home, e.g. electricity for laptop and PC, heating, desk...).
But be careful, not every day spent working from home is tax-deductible
The basic rule is that if the employee states home office as the reason for booking and a productive reason, then it does not count as a tax-free home office day. However, if a non-productive reason is given, such as a visit to the authorities, then the day counts as a home office.
Home office day
- Home office + doctor = home office day
- Home office + vacation = home office day
NO Home office day
- Home office + presence = NO home office day
- Home office + business trip = NO home office day
