Release Notes - Webdesk - Version 4.61.0 - September 26, 2025

New Features

Fingerprint Management for Webdesk Admins

  • [WD-18969], [WD-18971] - Backend services, database entities, and a REST endpoint for managing fingerprint records were introduced. In addition, person editing now displays existing fingerprint sets.

  • [WD-18970], [WD-19091] - New user interfaces allow admins to view and edit fingerprint records, including a finger image preview. In addition, an API endpoint was provided to retrieve users with or without an assigned fingerprint set.

  • [WD-19179] - When a person is deleted or removed from the system, the validity of their fingerprints is now ended automatically. This ensures that no access via kiosks is possible anymore.

Improved Display of Field Groups in the Client Settings

  • [WD-16725] - The view of the field group definitions in the client settings was revised. The assignment between fields and their respective groups is now displayed more clearly.
    These changes improve the configuration of fields in the administration area and ensure that the changes are saved correctly in the underlying model.
    The user interface was adjusted so that:
    • the relationship between fields and groups is clearly recognizable,
    • public fields are automatically assigned to the "General" group,
    • the grouping and management of custom groups has been simplified,
    • additional columns for legislation and employment contracts are displayed in the field table.

New Public API Interfaces

  • [WD-19409] - Introduction of a new public API for journal data. It provides access to bookings, email information, and absences for defined persons and periods.

  • [WD-19411] - New public API for absence data. Through this interface, approved and unapproved absences, including the reason, can be retrieved.

  • [WD-19412] - New public API for querying the estimated working time of an employee for the current day.

Regional Language Variants

  • [WD-18354], [WD-18355] - Introduction of derived languages (e.g. de_AT, de_CH):
    • The ability to define language variants with inheritance logic was added. Texts of the parent language can be inherited and selectively overridden.
    • Language management was extended in the user interface. It is now possible to create and edit derived language variants directly.
    • In addition, the maintenance of text modules for derived languages was simplified.

New Progress Indicator in Travel Expense Reports

  • [WD-17304] - The design of the progress indicator was revised to provide a modern, clearly structured presentation in line with the MUI design. Active steps are now highlighted in color, while the other steps are displayed in a subtle gray tone.

Improvements

Travel Management – Improvements to PDF Export and File Names

  • [WD-18705] - The file name when downloading travel expense reports was revised. It now uses a chronologically sortable format: First name Last name YYYY-MM-DD_hhmm - YYYY-MM-DD_hhmm, without parentheses.

  • [WD-18706] - Trips without a start and destination location no longer result in "null/null" being output on the cover page of the PDF report. This information is now simply omitted.

Improved System Stability and Future-Proofing

  • [WD-17537], [WD-18765] - As part of a comprehensive technical overhaul, the foundation of our system was modernized. These changes serve to ensure stability, maintainability, and compatibility with future versions. This means the system works more reliably and is better prepared for upcoming developments, without any change to the familiar functionality or workflows.

Periodic Data Approval

  • [WD-19055] - The options for monthly journal approval were restructured and renamed to allow a clearer and more understandable configuration. In addition, the default configuration for reminder emails was revised and validated to ensure a more robust default setting.

Functional Improvements in Modules

  • [WD-18745] - In the trash (Trashbin), the shortname / uid column is now also searchable, making it easier to identify deleted groups or objects.

  • [WD-19310] - When saving a client without the journal approval function enabled, no unnecessary validation is triggered anymore; existing clients can be saved without errors again.

Time Tracking

  • [WD-18717] - Time duration displays (e.g. in the Book Time module) are now displayed by default in the format h:mm and only in the format hh:mm from 10 hours onward, to make the presentation clearer.

  • [WD-19361] - The order of field definitions within groups is now correctly taken into account in the interfaces po_editClient and po_editPerson. As a result, the display of fields matches the order defined in the configuration.

UI Improvements

  • [WD-16445] - In HR Expert, the column widths for current and former group relationships were unified to ensure a consistent presentation.

  • [WD-19012] - Various visual adjustments were made to fix display issues in the branding after the 4.61 release.

  • [WD-18880] - Introduction of a new CSS variable --header-foreground to make heading texts consistent in light and dark themes and to allow flexible adaptation to different brandings.

  • [WD-18721] - Introduced new CSS variables for menu and header to better control selected options and contrasts.

  • [WD-17377] - Further hard-coded colors in the system were identified and replaced with CSS variables to improve design consistency and support for different themes.

  • [WD-18193] - The icon for the light theme was revised and now shows a clearly recognizable sun with longer rays.

  • [WD-18625] - Various visual adjustments in the RBI dashboard:
    • The current day marker in the calendar was corrected.
    • The HR Expert logo was aligned with the Workflow logo.
    • Notifications are now displayed in red.

  • [WD-19210] - In the notes section, the highlight color was improved and the date correctly aligned with the "Created:" label to increase readability.

General Improvements

  • [WD-17861] - When downloading reports via ta_getOrgJournal, the file name is now formed automatically from the report title and the respective client brand. This makes it easier to assign downloaded files later.

  • [WD-17962] - Device restrictions in action configurations now apply not only in the menu tree but also when calling an action directly via URL. This ensures that blocked actions can no longer be accessed via direct links either.

  • [WD-17702] - Old, no longer used properties (PoModule.upgradeScripts and PoFile.module) were removed to clean up the code and improve maintainability.

Technical Improvements

  • [WD-17376] - Hybrid persistence mode - simultaneous support for Hibernate Native SessionFactory and JPA EntityManager

  • [WD-18534] - The JavaScript library jQuery.Mask was updated to the current version to avoid errors in the Chrome console. It was ensured that existing prefix functions in po_editPerson.act and po_editGroup.act continue to work correctly.

  • [WD-18704], [WD-18735] - Optimizations to the Cocoon extensions:
    • Use of cached MethodHandles instead of reflection calls for better performance.
    • Extensions are now injected via Spring to ensure clean dependency handling.

Bug Fixes

Time Tracking

  • [WD-19371] - An error message occurred when opening a person's TA settings. The error has been fixed.

Project Time Tracking

  • [WD-19152] - The color of the favorites panel was incorrectly changed in version 2024 and in legacy mode and has been reset to black.

  • [WD-19161] - The lazy loading function for project expenditures in the project selection dialog no longer worked and has been restored.

  • [WD-18766] - Project selection did not work when more than 33,000 projects existed. The dialog remained empty, and manual input also yielded no results.

  • [WD-18763] - An error message occurred when opening the "Project Time" area, which prevented access.

Travel Management

  • [WD-19098] - After a fix for the stepper scroll behavior, the form unexpectedly jumped back to the top of the page during input. The scroll behavior was corrected.

  • [WD-19320] - An error message occurred when adding a trip entry. This might be related to the new derived languages feature.

  • [WD-19321] - In certain brandings (e.g. Webdesk, Personalwolke 2025), the button for uploading files appeared disabled even though it was functional. The color design was adjusted accordingly.

  • [WD-18636] - Public additional fields in the travel expenses module could no longer be linked to a receipt-related record type once it was assigned to a specific client.

HR Expert

  • [WD-19097] - Fix for an error message when removing dashlets in the HR Expert dashboard.

  • [WD-19110] - Expiring certificates were not displayed in the dashboard if no client was selected.

  • [WD-19137] - Error when changing the salary: An error message occurred when editing persons with directly assigned permissions.

  • [WD-19303] - An error message occurred when removing a dashlet in HRX.

  • [WD-19324] - The table header for previous group assignments in HRX was faulty when the table was empty.

  • [WD-17453] - In the salary report, changes of the employment status (use of different classification groups) were not taken into account correctly. The report was always based on the original status.

Derived Languages

  • [WD-19350] - The language of the month selection field was not derived correctly from the user language or browser language. Instead, the default Webdesk language was always used. The behavior has been corrected.

  • [WD-19341] - When creating derived languages, text modules were incorrectly created automatically. These should be created manually.

Time Tracking Field Definitions

  • [WD-19360] - An error message occurred on saving when adding or removing fields in field definition groups. The error has been fixed.

  • [WD-19428] - The TA upgrade script version 46 migrated fields incompletely even though groups were created. The faulty data migration has been corrected.

  • [WD-19311], [WD-19312] - An error message occurred when saving certain clients if a person field was configured.

Fingerprint Functionality at the Kiosk

  • [WD-19154] - The fingerprint registration endpoint now also supports validity periods (ValidFrom and ValidTo) during transmission.

  • [WD-19178] - The list for fingerprint assignment at the kiosk no longer shows deleted or inactive persons.

  • [WD-19197] - Retrieval of fingerprint data by new kiosks now returns correct values instead of empty entries or entries filled with null.

  • [WD-19327] - Deleting individual fingerprints from a set caused an error message. The operation could not be saved.

Kiosk

  • [WD-19331] - Fixed an error during the registration of new kiosks that resulted in an error message. Registration can now be completed successfully again.

  • [WD-18740] - Autocomplete in the kiosk tab of a project did not work. No suggestions were displayed even though matching entries existed.

UI

  • [WD-18762] - The icon for the check-in reason "Home office" was not displayed in the mobile view of the dashboard.

  • [WD-18824] - AT chips without an icon were not aligned correctly.

  • [WD-18923] - Mileage allowances were not displayed in sorted order in the travel expense form.

  • [WD-18741] - In the mobile view, when switching steps in the travel expense report, the active step was not automatically scrolled into the visible area.

  • [WD-19348] - In the project tree of project time tracking, the background in edit mode was not displayed correctly throughout. This display issue has been fixed.

  • [WD-19377] - The colors of the attendance indicator in the PersonCard component used theme variables and thus led to undesired display changes. The color values are now hard-coded and independent of the global color scheme.

  • [WD-19446] - The expand/collapse icons in Cocoon interfaces were barely visible due to insufficient color contrast. The contrast was improved so that "+" and "–" are clearly visible.

  • [WD-19014] - On the "Event Planning" page, the stepper elements were displayed vertically instead of horizontally, which impaired user guidance.

  • [WD-18628] - In the "Within the Competence of Role Holders" view, the border of the selection field did not work correctly - the border disappeared on interaction.

  • [WD-18739] - The search in the po_editKiosk component no longer worked. A 404 error occurred when searching for projects in the kiosk settings.

Other Bug Fixes

  • [WD-18978] - Webdesk could not be started in certain license configurations. This particularly affected constellations without a full license.

  • [WD-19306] - Fixed a problem when starting up Webdesk

  • [WD-19103] - Validation error messages were displayed with incorrect alignment.

  • [WD-19115] - The Smoker server could not be started due to a deadlock. The problem has been fixed.

  • [WD-19169] - Missing highlight colors in notes on the welcome page were restored.

  • [WD-19204] - Language support for derived languages in the menu tree did not work correctly and has been adjusted.

  • [WD-19237] - Deleting persons from the trash failed because a link to HrdPersonTraineeReport existed.

  • [WD-18750] - An error message occurred when searching for API keys if a key was entered directly.

  • [WD-19067] - An error message occurred when opening archived system messages.

  • [WD-18567] - An error message occurred when uploading an unsuitable file type as a user image. Appropriate validation for unsupported file formats was missing.

  • [WD-18502] - REST controllers did not return an appropriate HTTP status for an invalid Content-Type. Instead of the expected status message 415 Unsupported Media Type, a generic error message was returned.

  • [WD-16530] - When deleting a copied action configuration, "Special" permissions of the original configuration were also inadvertently removed.

Experimental Features (not yet enabled/enableable)

Attendance Tableau – Optimization of the Filter Section

  • [WD-18303] - The filter section of the Attendance Tableau was revised and now takes up considerably less space, especially on mobile devices. The arrangement of the elements was adjusted for different screen sizes.

  • [WD-18455] - A status filter function was introduced in the new React implementation of the attendance evaluation. Users can select individual statuses or reset them with the "All" button. The selection also affects the annual overview. In addition, a debug mode for positioning the "All" button (static or scrolling) was integrated.

Redesign of the User Interface (Theme V2025)

  • [WD-18428] - Vertical border lines within tables were removed to improve readability.

  • [WD-18429] - The left navigation menu was switched to a light color scheme.

  • [WD-18800] - The colors of the menu in the sidebar and the button for minimizing the sidebar were not displayed correctly in version V2025. The selection and hover states did not match the intended design, and the minify button was not visible.

  • [WD-18737] - In version V2024, design elements from V2025 were incorrectly adopted although they should only be visible in the new version.
