Key values
Key values allow keyword lists for user-defined forms and applications to be managed. The keyword list is uniquely identified by its name and has a freely definable number of attached key values. For each of these key values there is a long text for all defined languages. In the database, however, only the short name (keyword) is ever stored, and it is normally not displayed to the user either.
When a key value is deleted, its valid-to field is set to "now", so that this record drops out of future queries and is logically deleted.
Key values are composed as follows:
- Name - Name of the key value
- Description - Description of the key value
- Valid from - to - Display of the validity period for the value
Creating a new key value type
To create a new key value type, click the button "New key value type" and fill in the name and the description for the new value.
To add a new keyword, click the button "Add keyword", then fill in the given fields with the
- Keyword - Assignment of the name, e.g. Exchange Listing
- Text - any text, e.g. Vienna.
- Valid from - to - Determination of the validity period for the key value (using the calendar function)
- Delete - to delete a key value, activate the check box (by clicking it). After clicking Save, the keywords marked for deletion are logically deleted (see above!)
Save saves the new key value, which can then be edited further if needed. Save & Close saves the new key value and returns you to the key value overview.
The Back button can be used to cancel the process.
Example of a keyword list
In the following example there is a key value type "ExchangeListing" with 2 attached key values. The German translation is displayed directly in the form. To display the translations for the other languages, you have to click the button with the pencil.
