Job Build Groups and Assign Persons
Purpose
The buildGroupsAndAssignPersons job maintains groups based on one or more configured external data sources. For each group definition, the delivered persons are determined and the group memberships are brought up to date.
In the descriptor that ships with the product, the job is currently not active, configurable and interruptible.
Process
- All configured group definitions are processed one after the other. If interrupted, processing ends. Errors in a group definition are logged; the remaining definitions continue to be processed.
- If no existing group is selected, a new group is created from organization structure, short name, name and description. Otherwise the selected group is used.
- Using the configured connector, the query and Restriction, the person identifiers are read from the person identity field. Empty identifiers and persons that are not found are logged and ignored.
- Persons who are already members today but are no longer delivered by the source are removed from the group. This is not permitted in hierarchical organization structures.
- New persons are linked with a validity from today to infinity, to the extent that this validity overlaps with the validity of the person and the group.
Configuration per group definition
- Client, Organization structure and optionally Group: Determine where the group is maintained. Without an existing group, it is newly created.
- Short name, Name and optionally Description: Define the new group or the group to be maintained.
- Source, Query and Restriction: Determine the external data source and the records delivered.
- Person identity field: Specifies the field of the connector response that contains the person identifier.
- Person identity type: Determines whether the identifier is resolved as Webdesk UID, personnel number, e-mail address, TA ID or user name.
Several group definitions can be added or removed via the repeater. The general job parameters such as trigger and mail notification apply as described in the central job management.
